Chhar ("we", "our", "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your personal information when you use the Chhar mobile application ("App").

By using the App, you consent to the practices described in this Privacy Policy.

1. Information We Collect

1.1 Information You Provide

Phone Number: Required for account registration and OTP verification.
Name: Your full name for personalizing your profile.
Email Address: For account communication and support.
Gender: To personalize your experience and provide relevant deals.
Location: Your city or area to show nearby deals and offers.

1.2 Business Mode Information

If you use Business Mode to create and manage a store, we additionally collect:

Store Profile: Store name, description, website URL, address, and store category.
Branch Information: Branch names, addresses, cities, and areas.
Discount and Offer Details: Offer titles, descriptions, discount percentages, discount types, promo codes or redeem links, expiry dates, and offer images.
Uploaded Images: Logo images, cover photos, and discount offer images you upload through the App. These are stored in Google Cloud Storage and accessible via public URLs.

1.3 Information Collected Automatically

Device Information: Device model, operating system version, and unique device identifiers.
Usage Data: Pages visited, features used, time spent in the App, search queries, and interaction patterns.
Log Data: IP address, access times, and app crash reports.

1.4 Location Data

With your permission, we collect your device's approximate or precise location to display relevant deals and nearby stores. You can disable location access through your device settings at any time.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

Provide, maintain, and improve the Chhar App and its features.
Personalize your experience by showing relevant deals based on your location, preferences, and gender.
Send OTP codes for account verification and account deletion confirmation.
Enable Business Mode users to create and manage store profiles, branches, and discount offers.
Display business-created stores and discount offers to all users through the public feed, store listings, and nearby store search.
Store and serve uploaded images (logos, cover photos, offer images) through cloud storage.
Communicate with you about updates, promotions, and customer support.
Analyze usage trends to improve our services.
Detect, prevent, and address technical issues and security threats.
Comply with legal obligations.

3. Public Visibility of Business Content

When you use Business Mode, the following information is made publicly visible to all Chhar users:

Your store name, description, website, address, and category.
Branch names, addresses, cities, and areas.
Discount offers including titles, descriptions, discount percentages, types, promo codes, redeem links, expiry dates, and offer images.
Logo and cover photo images.

This information appears in the public discount feed, store listings, and nearby store search results. Deleting your store removes all associated content from public view immediately.

Your personal account information (phone number, email, name, gender) is never displayed publicly in connection with your store.

4. Sharing of Information

We do not sell your personal information to third parties. We may share your information in the following circumstances:

Service Providers: With trusted third-party service providers who assist us in operating the App, including cloud hosting (Google Cloud Platform), cloud storage (Google Cloud Storage for uploaded images), analytics, and OTP delivery via SMS (Reve Systems). These providers are obligated to protect your data.
Legal Requirements: When required by law, regulation, legal process, or government request.
Safety: To protect the rights, property, or safety of Chhar, our users, or the public.
Business Transfers: In connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of the transaction.

5. Data Storage and Transfers

Account data and business content are stored on servers hosted by Google Cloud Platform in Asia (asia-south1 region).
Uploaded images are stored in Google Cloud Storage with public read access to enable display within the App.
Data may be processed in locations outside of Bangladesh as part of our cloud infrastructure. We take reasonable steps to ensure your data is treated securely in accordance with this Privacy Policy.

6. Data Retention

We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide you services. We may also retain data as required by law or for legitimate business purposes such as resolving disputes and enforcing agreements.

Account deletion: You can delete your account through the App using OTP verification. Upon deletion, we will delete or anonymize your personal information within 30 days, except where retention is required by law.
Store deletion: If you delete your store through Business Mode, all store data, branches, discounts, and uploaded images associated with that store are removed immediately.
Uploaded images: Images uploaded through Business Mode are retained as long as the associated store or discount exists. They are deleted when the store or discount is deleted.

7. Data Security

We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your personal information, including:

Encrypted data transmission (TLS/SSL).
JWT-based authentication with token expiry for user sessions.
OTP-based verification for account login and account deletion.
Secure storage of sensitive data.
Regular security audits and monitoring.
Rate limiting on authentication endpoints to prevent abuse.

However, no method of electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure. While we strive to protect your data, we cannot guarantee absolute security.

8. Your Rights

You have the right to:

Access: Request a copy of the personal information we hold about you.
Correction: Request correction of inaccurate or incomplete information. You can update your profile directly in the App.
Deletion: Request deletion of your account and personal data through the App's OTP-protected account deletion feature, or by contacting us.
Withdraw Consent: Withdraw your consent for data processing at any time by contacting us or deleting your account.
Data Portability: Request your data in a structured, commonly used format.

9. Cookies and Analytics

The App may use analytics tools (such as Firebase Analytics) to collect anonymous usage data. This data helps us understand how users interact with the App and improve our services. No personally identifiable information is shared with analytics providers without your consent.

10. Third-Party Links

The App may contain links to third-party websites or services (e.g., merchant websites, redeem links from discount offers). We are not responsible for the privacy practices or content of these third parties. We encourage you to review their privacy policies before providing any personal information.

11. Children's Privacy

The Chhar App is not intended for children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, we will take steps to delete it promptly.

12. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any material changes by posting the updated policy in the App with a revised "Last updated" date. Your continued use of the App after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
